We’re delighted to be working in partnership with an award-winning hospitality business as they look to appoint an experienced Financial Controller on a 12mth FTC basis.
It’s a business that we’ve worked with for a number of years now and they have a fantastic reputation, with lots of long-standing members of staff and they’ve built a great culture over the years. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will support and manage the Finance team (10), whilst working alongside key individuals in each of the Group’s entities. It will be a fast-paced role offering broad exposure to senior leadership and key business operations and is very much the type of role that will involve getting the sleeves rolled up, where you will lead by example.
Core responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day work of the Finance team and ensure the efficient and smooth running of the finance operations across the company, ensuring high performance and engagement from the team
- Oversee timely and accurate production of monthly management accounts
- Preparation of consolidated monthly management accounts including profit & loss and reconciliation of balance sheet
- Review and submit internal management information packs to key stakeholders and field follow up queries
- Review and submit quarterly VAT returns
- Lead the preparation of year-end statutory financial statements and liaise with external auditors and tax advisers
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory frameworks
- Collate and review monthly payroll and liaise with external payroll bureau
- Provide support on tills, stock management and systems contracts
- Complete ad hoc office of national statistics surveys
- Review and authorise supplier payments for all entities alongside Finance Director
- Provide support in reviewing and analysing utility spend and business rates
- Provide ad hoc reporting to support key decision making
- Represent Finance in key business initiatives, systems implementations, and strategic projects
The ideal candidate for the role will possess the following key skills and attributes:
- Fully qualified with a strong Industry background
- Proven experience in a financial leadership role within a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of financial controls, statutory reporting and internal compliance
- Strategic mindset to support decision making and influence change across the business
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to problem solving
- The ability to manage and drive a high performing team
- A collaborative team player with the credibility to influence at a senior level
It will be an extremely rewarding role, in what is an exciting and entrepreneurial business, working with great people. The ideal start date that we are working towards is 1st November but for the right candidate this date could be brought forward but starting no later than 1st November.
